If you love vintage and you love French....

you will adore these books. I've been calling them my treasure books and they truly are.
Ever since these books "found me" several weeks ago, I've had difficulty putting them down.
This may sound crazy but I think the books "find you" and not the other way around.
These books knew I needed a little mini vacation and that is what they have provided.

Vintage French Interiors- Inspiration from the Antique Shops and Flea Markets of France
by Sebastien Siraudeau is filled with the most magical photo's.
It is beautifully written and just look at some of the photo's.

While reading this, I had the feeling that I was visiting the shops and markets with a good friend.
You will LOVE IT!

The other book that I am head over heels in love with is: The Flea Markets of France by Sandy Price, photo's by Emily Laxer.

Notice the size- small enough to fit in a carry on bag.
When hubby saw this book, he started shaking his head and laughing.
He knows me wayyyy too well!
I figure I am just being prepared (blame it on scouting as a child).

This little treasure book is just filled with helpful tips which I plan on absorbing-hehe.
I'm telling you, this book "found" me for a reason.

Just looking at the photo's makes me want to start shopping now.

Snuggle up with these

I am trusting that the post options with blogger truly do work.
This week is filled with Dr appointments (not for me, for my son) so I thought I would write a couple of quick posts while I had the chance. If you are reading this on Jan. 28th, it worked. Yay!


There is nothing better than sitting down with a good book. O.k, I can think of a few things but.....won't go there!

I have enjoyed every book that Frances Mayes has written.
A Year in the World is exceptional.
If you love travel and reading about getting off the beaten path, this one is for you.
If only I could visit all the marvelous places she has had the pleasure of seeing!


Mediterranean Summer by David Shalleck with Erol Muntz is a must read.
The story is not only entertaining but there are MANY recipes.
The forward was written by MARIO BATALI (love him).
Imagine sailing around the Mediterranean as a chef on a yacht.
What an adventure.

Too Much Tuscan Sun (confessions of a Chianti tour guide) by Dario Castagno with Robert Rodi,
is charming and very funny.
After reading this, I am ready to take a tour with Dario.

Great Reads for the Francophile

I have always loved to read. Period.
One of the gifts I give to myself is the time to read.
These are two of my favorites.

On Rue Tatin (Living and Cooking in a French Town) by Susan Loomis is delightful. As is Tarte Tatin (More of La Belle Vie on rue Tatin). Both books are filled with wonderful recipes created by Susan. One day I would love to attend her cooking school. To put it in a nutshell, she combines building a family with building a business in France.




Trail of Crumbs (Hunger, Love, and the Search For Home) by Kim Sunee is a memoir.
Kim was left on a bench in a marketplace as a young child. Later adopted by a family from New Orleans, she ends up living in France. This book depicts her search for self. As Kim finds peace in cooking, there are some wonderful recipes included in her book.

These books would make a great summer read.
