When the weather starts to cool down, my thoughts turn to chocolate. Hot chocolate!
My boys feel the same way. Although the picture was taken years ago (Interlaken, Switzerland),
it always puts a smile on my face. We were enjoying a perfect day with the perfect drink (even if it came from a pack).
The picture below was taken in Angelina's Tearoom in Paris. They "discouraged" picture taking but I took a couple of discreet shots. The tearoom opened in 1903. Just imagine all the people that have indulged in the ultimate pot of hot chocolate.
Isn't it just lovely?
This is a serious indulgence. Definitely worth the price.
In NYC, there is a great place called Serendipity. I used to spend a lot of time in Manhattan and this became a favorite restaurant (a lot of fun). The lines were always long but it was definitely worth the wait. One of their specialties is Frozen Hot Chocolate. A few years ago they published the recipe. I was thrilled!
This is worth the calories ladies!
Frrrozen Hot Chocolate
6 pieces of chocolate (1/2 ounce)
2 teaspoons hot chocolate mix
1 1/2 Tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 cup of milk
3 cups ice
whipped cream
chocolate shavings
chop chocolate and place in the top of a double boiler over simmering hot water.
stir until melted.
add hot chocolate mix and sugar. stir until melted
remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk until smooth.
cool to room temperature.
In a blender, add remaining milk, the room temperature chocolate mix and the ice.
Blend on high until smooth.
Pour into your favorite mug or glass. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Voila!
Good morning! Every morning the Christmas countdown gets changed. These

Wow! Switzerland, Paris, NYC! Aren't we the international chocolate connoisseur.
~Au revoir
for now, LOL! ;)
The tearoom is beautiful. And the hot chocolate sounds very sinful but delicious. I am printing the recipe.
Oooh, what lovely pictures and such special memories for you and your boys. I actually enjoyed my second cup of hot chocolate, since the onset of autumn, tonight. It was packaged, of course, but I like to add a little half and half to make it a bit richer. MMMM. Too cold for the iced version here, which I love. I am not a big fan of the hot weather. Thanks for the sweet comments about the artwork.
Love,
Christi
Hi Barb!
Mmmmmmm! Ahhhhhh! Ooooooo! I want to go there and sit and sip anything!!
What a fabulous place, it has to be awesome to actually sit there and enjoy a cup of chocolat or tea!! Thanks for taking us there.
Big hugs, Sherry
Oooh, chocolate. I love the photo of Angelina's in Paris. A place to put on my "to go to" list.
Iced chocolate sounds great - for the summer. I'll have to save the recipe. For now I'm indulging in the hot variety.
bisous,
Lorrie
How lovely! We should have been in Interlaken this September, but.....
What a wonderful tearoom, reminds me a bit of the Ritz in London.
Boy, I feel really boring now...lol. Going up to Michigan is a holiday to me..lol. How wonderful that you have seen so many beautiful places! I am definitely going to be making that recipe..thank you for sharing it!
Hi Barb, I have been to Interlaken , Switzerland , it is so beautiful there. My husband and I were dating when we were there. He tells everyone we had a storybook romance ! It wasn't happily ever after though cause we got a divorce ! LOL. He was my first marriage.
Praying for you honey.
I've never been to Serendipity Barb --Thanks for the link!
