We do! I have been a huge fan of fondue since the early 70's.
The pot is old- the color says it all-hehe.
I always think of fondue as a fun meal. When my boys were younger, we would have it occasionally (minus the alcohol).
With the weather so cold throughout the country, this is a perfect way to warm up.
Ladies, tradition says the man of the house prepares it (so I was told by a lovely Swiss man years ago). At this stage of my life, fondue has turned into a romantic meal. Nothing better than that!
While this recipe calls for white wine and Kirsch, it can easily be made without these ingredients.
Ingredient list
10 oz Gruyere cheese
10 oz Emmental cheese (Swiss cheese in the U.S.)
1 clove garlic
10 oz dry white wine
juice of 1 lemon
grated nutmeg
2 tsp cornstarch
4 oz of Kirsch
black pepper to taste
lots of very crusty bread torn (or you can cube it) into pieces
Grate the cheese and put into the fondue pot with the garlic, wine, lemon juice and nutmeg.
Mix together the cornstarch and Kirsch and add to your pot. While stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Simmer gently for several minutes.
Add pepper to taste.
You can add a simple salad but the fondue is very filling.
Bring the fondue pot to your table, light those candles and let the romance begin.
I'm thinking Valentines Day!

Miss Barb!!!!!! I just dropped by to say hello, chickee! I hope you're feeling great.
We have a fondue restaurant here in our town that does nothing but fondue. It takes you 3 hours to get through this romantic meal and they even have alligator jerky to dip into the fondue. Even dessert is fondue chocolate. It's a dream to eat there and a cozy place to eat.
Smooches,
Connie
Used to Fondue but it is amazing how quickly it lost fashion over here.
what a great idea. I haven't done fondue in such a long time.
Oooh, fondue. What a great idea for Valentine's Day with the one I love. And he has to kiss me if he drops his bread in the cheese! We do fondue about once a year. It's a good winter meal.
My pot looks about as old as yours does! :}

I've never had fondue, and this sounds so good!
What a great idea for a Valentine's Day dinner!
We used to have fondues all the time when the kids were little. We haven't done it much lately but now you have given me a great idea. Thanks for the recipe :>)
Hi Barb
I haven't had a fondue in a long time! I'll have to buy some Gruyere cheese soon --this would be fun to have for Superbowl Sunday!
Pretty cards! The crown motif is nice for Mardi Gras
Hugs, Pat
We haven't done a fondue in years. Every once in a while we will do a chocolate one but it's been years since we've done a meal or cheese. Have a great Wednesday!

Yum! And you're right! Fondue would be perfect for Valentines! We loved fondue in France and I've been meaning to pick up a set at a garage sale ever since.
Now you've inspired me to get busy with that! Yum!
Another crown lover! Oh, I haven't even started to display my crowns! I must take more pictures and get better at taking them. I will do some shopping at your site. Fondue, c'est magnifique aussi! I am adding you to my list!
Bon journee! ANita
Oh la la...J'adore vos couronnes! I love your crowns! We are of kindred spirit! Yes, the hunt for crowns lives on! I love the little sparkly one on the glass bucket. DO you take checks? Anita
It's a long time since I did a fondue. Maybe its time to try again!
